Our minds are a very powerful tool for making things happen. From the smallest task that we want to carry out up to the biggest goal that we want to achieve in the course of a lifetime, it all starts in our minds. We don’t readily think this way because the mind both has conscious and subconscious parts to it.

Conscious thoughts are what we are keenly aware of, while subconscious thoughts are those that we hardly know exist, but are inside our minds after all. Although we don’t often acknowledge it (because it is subconscious…), the subconscious mind is what drives much of our behavior.

Conscious Mind vs. Subconscious Mind

While the conscious mind is what we have some degree of awareness and control of, it is the subconscious mind that governs all patterns of behavior and thinking. It works 24/7 to control all involuntary movements, ensuring that we stay the same in all ways possible. The subconscious mind enables us to respond in a certain way without thinking actively about it.

It has recorded all of our life experiences and memories, but not in a linear, faithful way as a video recording might. It acts on concepts and emotions, and the more highly-charged the attached emotions (to the event), the more strongly it is registered and added to the existing database.

The subconscious mind is charged with keeping us safe from harm, but what it perceives as being harmful can change over time depending on experience and perception. This why what is fearful to some is not to others. It perceives stability (such as the comfort zone) as being safe, and change as dangerous. This does always align with or equate to what is happening in the outside, physical world.

The subconscious mind is protective of the record that it’s kept of us throughout the years – it is its reality – and any attempt by you to make any changes to that will trigger resistance. That’s why you feel uncomfortable, scared, and often end up unable to make any changes to your behavior and thinking easily.

Unless you were ideally programmed throughout life, conditioned and geared to grow into a happy, healthy human being destined for success, most of us need some reprogramming of our subconscious minds in order to become somebody who attracts success naturally and make things happen easily.

Along the way, we will likely acquire certain limiting beliefs throughout our lifetime that can change the course of our journey. Achievement and making things happen don’t usually simply happen, as many things in life work against that.

The key to harnessing the power of our minds to enable us to habitually think and behave according to the reality we envision is through our subconscious. It is true that we cannot change the past. And what’s also true is that our past has been embedded very well into our unconscious memory. Without intervention, we will keep repeating history and doing the same things over and over again, especially if we don’t see anything wrong with it (because it is our reality).

We simply need to reprogram our subconscious minds in a way that makes us more geared towards achieving the things we consciously desire.
