The Secret movie was really great at spreading the word about the law of attraction. It made more people aware about this law than any book ever did. However, there is one ingredient that was missing from the movie.
In fact, this ingredient is so important that without it, the law would almost certainly fail. By omitting to emphasize this requirement for the law to work, the movie has led many people to believe that you can get whatever you want by visualization without any effort.
If you looked at the word ‘attraction’, you’ll notice that it is actually attract + action. This is the missing ingredient – action. You absolutely MUST take action. There is a famous quote that goes, “The harder I work, the luckier I get.”
This is very true. You can visualize and affirm until the cows come home but if you do not put in the effort, your results will be abysmal. If you want to have a toned body, you can visualize having a fit, sexy body that turns heads. You can affirm that you’ll be focused and reach your ideal body.
However, if that’s all you do but never actually take any action, you will never see your fit body materialize. You must go to the gym, eat right and do whatever else it takes to see the body.
Many people will wonder… “But if I have to put in effort, then why do I need the law of attraction?”
The answer to that is that the law will make things easier for you. Maybe you need a fitness trainer but can’t afford one. However, when you go to the gym, you may end up making friends with a few people who will guide you.
If you have a sugar craving, the law of attraction will help you overcome this craving and you will notice that you no longer crave the detrimental foods you used to love.
The same applies in your career. If you work hard and do your job diligently while looking for ways and means to progress and elevate your position, you’ll be surprised at how doors open for you.
A chance meeting or an unexpected job opening may see you land in a position where you have a salary increase. All these are a result of the law of attraction… but you can only get such benefits if you actually go to work.
If you sit at home without a job but visualizing big bucks, you’ll be broke and miserable. Action is based on faith. You must be willing to do whatever it takes to succeed. Action is where faith becomes real.
Many athletes train hoping to get into the Olympics. They have faith that they’ll make the cut and get in. It’s this faith and belief that keeps them going. They can see themselves winning a medal. That’s why they train so hard.
If they didn’t have the faith and belief, they’d never be able to withstand the rigors of daily training. This is action. Even in the Bible, it is stated that faith without action is dead.
Visualize and affirm whatever you want… and then go out there and do what it takes to make it happen. Faith leads to action and action leads to success.
