If you don’t suffer from a mental health issue you assume that your mental health is fine? But is it really? Many people suffer with mental health issues that don’t require a doctor’s visit and you may be one of them.
Your brain is affected by the foods that you eat and this in turn affects your state of mind. When you don’t feed your brain correctly it doesn’t function properly and this can lead to a myriad of problems.
People who exercise regularly always seem to feel happy and have more energy to get through the day. This is because of the way your brain works by releasing endorphins that actually make you feel happy. This effect of happiness can actually become addictive in the same way as smoking or using heroin does. Of course with exercise you are becoming addicted to a good habit.
When you become happier in your life you will start to be more productive as well. You will have the energy to get those chores around the house done. You will feel motivated enough to learn a new skill so that you can apply for a promotion.
The easiest way to start feeling happier is to start an exercise routine. Something as simple as walking is good. If you don’t like walking you can try swimming, biking, hiking or even take up gardening or golf.
You don’t have to exercise for hours each day. Start off with a goal of exercising for 20 minutes per day 5 times a week. If this goal is too lofty for you then start with twice a week for 5 or 10 minutes each day. As your fitness level increases you can add more minutes to your routine.
Exercise gives your brain a boost and this makes you more active and happier. This is also why starting an exercise routine is advice given to people who are suffering from depression and anxiety disorders.
As well as starting to exercise regularly you want to concentrate on eating better as well so that you can feed your brain correctly.
By incorporating just this one thing into your life you can make a huge difference in the way you feel. Always keep in mind that it takes work to keep your mind in a state of good mental health. If you haven’t thought of your mental health in that way before, then it is time that you do.
